Visitation Rules
Effective October 25, 2010

The following shall apply to visitation of inmates at the Tuscumbia City Jail.

  • Visitation for female inmates is from 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
  • The Tuscumbia Police Department reserves the right to change, modify or cancel visitation at any time as it deems necessary.
  • Each cell holds a maximum of four (4) inmates at any given time. Two (2) visitors per cell will be allowed the first 15 minutes, two (2) the next 15 minutes. Population of the cell block may be reason for the jail staff to modify visitation.
  • NOTE - Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Mondays for females. If you attempt to arrive at 2:31 p.m., you will not be admitted. No contact with the inmate. Any violation will result in 60 days suspension of visitation for that inmate.
  • No children under age 18 will be allowed in the cell block. Child visitation may be arranged under hardship circumstances with the approval of the Chief or Deputy Chief only.
  • All visitors will behave in an orderly fashion. No loud obscene or improper behavior will be tolerated!! You will be escorted from the premises if this occurs.
  • NOTE THIS CAREFULLY - Anyone caught attempting to pass contraband will be arrested on the spot and locked up! Anyone breaking any of the aforementioned rules will be cause for visitation to be suspended for a period of 60 days. The next offense will be 90 days and a third will result in an indefinite suspension of visitation.
  • There will be no gathering in the breezeway. This is an Official Work Area where police vehicles are parked.
  • Trustees will have visitation from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Mondays with a maximum of one visitor per trustee per week.

Inmate Personal Property

Below is a list of acceptable items. If it is NOT on the list, DO NOT BRING IT.

  • 1 clear shampoo, unopened
  • 1 clear deodorant, unopened
  • 1 bar of soap or 1 clear bottle of body wash
  • 1 toothbrush and toothpaste, unopened package
  • 1 hair grease or 1 baby oil, unopened bottle
  • 1 hair brush
  • 6 pair of white socks
  • 6 white t-shirts
  • 6 white underwear
  • 3 towels
  • 3 wash cloths
  • 2 jogging suits, white or gray in color or 2 pajama bottoms/lounge pants
  • 4 pairs of shorts
  • 1 pair of shower shoes
  • 1 pair of tennis shoes
  • Stamps, 2 pens, 3 pencils, 2 notebooks (no wire), 3 soft back books to read
  • 1 Bible
  • 1 drawing pad or coloring book, markers or crayons
  • 1 small radio with ear buds or MP3 player

Make sure you ask the Jailer for inmate's proper items. ASK if not sure.

All items can be dropped off and picked up on Monday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

All inmates may have a 48-hour bag when they first get arrested.

NO FOOD or SNACKS.
